Callison Elementary School sixth grader, Mateo Rodriguez was honored as the Student of the Year at the November 2 VUSD Board Meeting.
Callison Principal, Kacey Ramos said of Mateo.
“Mateo is an exemplary individual with exceptional leadership skills. His dedication and strong work ethic make him a role model for his peers. He takes his position as a leader seriously and strives to cultivate a sense of community among his fellow students. Mateo is always willing to lend a helping hand and is genuinely invested in the success of others. He embodies the principles of Callison's 5 B's and encourages his peers to do the same. Mateo consistently goes above and beyond on his assignments, demonstrating his diligence and commitment. Despite his young age, he displays remarkable maturity and wisdom. His admirable work ethic is coupled with thoughtfulness and respect for others. Mateo's empathy towards others is commendable. With such qualities, Mateo's future is undoubtedly bright, and we eagerly anticipate witnessing his many accomplishments. We are incredibly proud of him.”
